On December 21, the man and his wife went to the beach to capture images when they were suddenly struck by violent waves and swept away.
According to Nguyen Van Hung, head of the Nha Trang Bay Management Board's rescue team, the wife was rescued in time, but the husband was washed farther away by the waves and drowned.
This area has underwater currents, so local authorities have placed warning signs, Hung added.
Amid the rough seas in recent days, the authorities have intensified patrols to remind locals and tourists to be alert.
Khanh Hoa is forecasted to experience moderate to heavy rain from December 23-25. The heaviest rainfall is expected on December 24-25, with some areas predicted to receive up to 250mm of rain.
