A man in Haiphong City admitted he had attempted to burn his family alive due to his disappointment in only having daughters.

Ngoc is in the emergency ward
The incident occurred at 8pm on March 17 in Xich Tho Village, Hong Thai Commune, An Duong District, Haiphong City, injuring six people.
According to initial information, Tran Dinh Hiep, 29 years old, and his wife Nguyen Thi Luyen, had two daughters which became the source of their disputes.
Luyen’s father-in-law, 53 year-old Tran Dinh Hau often complained that she had been unable to give birth to a son, and even threatened to kill her if she could not give birth to a son. The dispute reached the peak on March 17 when the fire occurred, leading to six people being taken to hospital.
Receiving Luyen’s cry for help via phone, her parents in Kien Thuy District, Haiphong City, rushed to her house. Coming there, they found their nieces Tran Thi Ngoc, 5 years old, and Tran Thi Huyen, 4 years old in the burning building. Hiep and Luyen and their children were taken to hospital. Mr. Hau and a member in the family suffered from light burns.
The Haiphong Children Hospital, said the two children were in critical condition, while Hiep and his wife were receiving emergency treatment.
Hiep admitted that he had set fire to burn the family, but the police is conducting investigations to discover who was initially responsible for the outbreak.
According to investigators, Mr. Hau and his wife are the main suspects in the case. Meanwhile, after recovering consciousness, Luyen said that it was her parents-in-law that had set the fire alight to murder her and her daughters.
