Some kinds of robot have been used in Vietnam to help the fight against Covid-19.
At a meeting held by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Hanoi last month to discuss measures, treatment regiments and vaccine production to tackle Covid-19, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Infection Diseases, suggested that Vietnam should early use robots in Covid-19 prevention and treatment. This has been successfully applied in China to help the country to control the virus quickly.
Since then, several units in Vietnam have tried to produce their robots to serve the Covid-19 battle.
Robots for Covid-19 sterilisation
A group of experts from Ton Duc Thang University in HCM City have launched the CD 1.0 (Covid Defender 1.0) and DR 1.0 (Disinfection Robot 1.0) robot models which specialise in sterilisation for Covid-19 prevention.

Covid Defender 1.0 is operated through a remote control which is up to around two kilometres from the robot. It has an arm designed to look like an ejector which is convenient for spraying chemicals.
The robot can work for six consecutive hours at 15km per hour. A smart phone is installed on the equipment, allowing the remote observation and control through video calls.
In the future, Covid Defender 1.0 could be employed in fire prevention and control as well as other emergency situations.
Disinfection Robot 1.0. can memorise work space. It can disinfect by exposing ultraviolet rays to destroy the DNA structure of the virus. The product’s advantage is not using chemicals and so it is environmentally-friendly.
A team from the Eastern People Military Hospital in HCM City has made a robot model used for the sterilisation based on the municipal Department of Health’s order.

It has two main functions of spraying chemicals for sterilisation and cleaning floors after being sprayed. It can also disinfect itself.
The equipment can be operated via a remote control connected to 4G network or internet.
According to the HCM City Department of Health, in the coming time, the department will provide this kind of robot for local hospitals which receive Covid-19 patients.
Robots tasked with with delivering food and medicine
The Military Technical Academy has manufactured an autonomous robot named Vibot-1 to help replace medical workers at high-risk quarantine areas.

The product is tasked with delivering food, medicine and necessities, moving waste outside, and helping communicate between doctors and patients. It can carry different types of goods with loads up to 100kg. Its operation is monitored by a control centre.
The study group will continue to upgrade the robot so that it can work fully automatically as a smart robot in the time to come.
