Over the past week, the central region of Vietnam has faced cold weather and rough seas. Therefore, local authorities decided to halt the operations of all ships and boats to Ly Son Island District. This has affected 4,000 islanders.

Pham Thu Huong, chairwoman of the district People’s Committee, said Ly Son has been isolated numerous times amid rough seas. Local residents are reminded to store essential goods during this time.
Business activities are requested to ensure stabilisation of the price of goods while the locality is under isolation.
In case people are in dire need of visiting a mainland hospital for an emergency, they are allowed to hire a high-speed boat for the trip. But the service may cost up to VND20 million (USD816.32).
