Since November 1, authorities have banned vehicles travelling from Bo De Ward to Hoan Kiem Ward to allow maintenance on Long Bien Bridge. Traffic has been diverted via the Long Bien-Xuan Quan route and Chuong Duong Bridge.

By 6.30 am today, November 3, traffic volumes toward Chuong Duong Bridge had surged, with vehicles packed tightly along Xuan Quan Dyke, the main approach to the bridge.

Traffic police worked continuously to manage the flow, but many drivers mounted pavements and embankments to bypass the jam.

On Long Bien Bridge, the lane from Bo De Ward to Hoan Kiem Ward remained closed for repairs. Vehicles travelled against traffic on the only open lane, creating a chaotic two-way flow and adding to the congestion.

By 7.30 am, traffic on Xuan Quan Dyke and the Chuong Duong Bridge approach was at a standstill. Motorcyclists squeezed through narrow gaps while cars barely moved.

Jams also built up in the Ngoc Thuy Dyke area, with tailbacks stretching nearly two kilometres.
