Location decided for Ninh Thuan’s nuclear power plants

The plants will be located in Vinh Truong Village of Phuoc Dinh Commune (Plant No. 1), Thuan Nam District and in Thai An Village of Vinh Hai Commune (Plant No. 2), Ninh Hai District.

As announced at a conference held yesterday by the provincial Industrial and Trade Department and the committee in charge of preparation of investments for nuclear power and renewable energy projects, Plant No.1 will be built on a total land area of over 500 ha and sea area of 310 ha; and the Ninh Thuan Plant No.2 will cover a land area of 514 ha and a sea area of 308 ha.

Applying modern technology, Ninh Thuan’s Plant No.1 is designed to have four turbines to produce 4,000 MW. Its first turbine is scheduled to start working in 2020 and by 2024 it is scheduled to operate all four turbines.

Designed with the same capacity as Ninh Thuan Plant No.1, Plant No.2 is scheduled to operate its first turbine in 2021, the second in 2022, the third in 2024 and the last in 2025.

In addition, other facilities used for operation control, management board, exhibition, marketing, etc. of the two plants will be built in Phan Rang City.
