Foot-and-mouth disease has been detected in the northern province of Bac Ninh from February 23-March 14.
Nearly 90 pigs in Lien Bao commune, Tien Du district, were infected and had to be culled.
Nguyen Nhan Lung, head of the provincial Animal Health Department, said the province has vaccinated all cattle and poultry and taken immediate measures to prevent the disease from spreading further.
He said the epidemic is currently under control.
Meanwhile,blue-ear-pig disease has hit three communes in Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province, infecting nearly 200 pigs.
The province has provided 7,000 doses of vaccine for localities to contain the epidemic.
Quang Nam and Quang Tri provinces are also badly hit by the disease.
Dien Bien, Khanh Hoa and Kien Giang provinces have not yet experienced 21 days with no new cases of bird flu being recorded, the time required to be considered completely free of the disease.
