Large dog-theft ring busted in Tay Ninh

Police in the southern province of Tay Ninh have dismantled a large dog-theft and trafficking ring, detaining nine suspects and seizing more than 1.5 tonnes of evidence.

At around 4.40 am on January 8, police raided a site in Duc Lap Commune, temporarily holding five people. Officers seized 29 dogs, 19 alive and 10 frozen, along with a car, four motorbikes and tools including electric stun guns, pepper spray, improvised arrows and a fur-removal machine.

Minutes later, police inspected another location in Ninh Thanh Ward, detaining four more suspects. Officers confiscated more than 104 dogs weighing a total of 1.2 tonnes, a truck, a 761-litre industrial freezer and gas blowtorches.

Police said coordinated operations led to the arrests of nine suspects and the seizure of over 1.5 tonnes of evidence, breaking up the theft and distribution network and helping maintain public order.
