Naver, the search engine which ranks second only to U.S.-based Internet giant Google in the South Korean market, closed the purchase deal with Le Huy Khoa, head of Kanata Korean School based in Ho Chi Minh City, and has made the dictionary available at http://vndic.naver.com/ since last week.

The deal will be valid for 10 years, Khoa says, adding Naver has also asked him for the copyrights of other bilingual dictionaries for business, communication, and language studies purposes.

There are around 80,000 Vietnamese people living and working in South Korea, while tens of thousands of South Koreans are recorded to reside in Vietnam.

Launched in June 1999 by ex-Samsung employees, Naver provides such Internet services as search services – including academic thesis search – news, e-mail, and a children's portal.

Last year, it held a 44.27% market share, slightly behind that of leader Google, in the South Korean search market.
