The decision was approved at a meeting on August 14, allowing the forest land in Tan Loi Commune and Tri An Ward to be converted for the project.
Of the 2.67 hectares, 1.51 hectares is classified as special-use forest and 1.16 hectares as production forest. The entire area is planted forest, with no natural forest affected.
The Ma Da Bridge project will take up to four years from the allocation of funding and is scheduled for completion in 2028.
The bridge will connect Road 753 with the road linking Ma Da Bridge to HCM City's Ring Road 4, forming part of efforts to improve transport links in northern Dong Nai and connections with regional routes.
Designed to Class III road standards, the bridge will have a design speed of 80 km/h. Once fully developed, it will be 33.5 metres wide with eight lanes, while approach roads at both ends will also have eight lanes.
The project is expected to improve passenger and freight transport and provide an additional connection between northern and southern Dong Nai.
An environmental impact assessment has been appraised after the project's land requirement was revised from 1.32 hectares to 2.72 hectares. The investor is completing further documentation as required by relevant authorities.
The project can proceed once all requirements under forestry and other relevant regulations have been met.
