Northern region sees widespread thunderstorms

The northern region of Vietnam will see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localised heavy rain, while central areas face heat.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, northern Vietnam will see scattered showers and thunderstorms from August 15 to 16, with heavy rain in some places. Temperatures in Hanoi and many northern provinces and cities are expected to range between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius.

From Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh, scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast in the afternoon and evening, with localised heavy rain. Daytime conditions will be sunny, with hot weather in some areas.

Nghe An and Ha Tinh in particular are expected to experience hot weather on August 16. From Quang Tri to Hue and across the south-central coast, there may be isolated showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and at night, while daytime conditions will remain hot, with severe heat in some places.

The central highlands and southern Vietnam are forecast to have scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with heavy rain in some areas. In the Mekong Delta, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected on the evening of August 16. During thunderstorms, residents have been warned of whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong gusts.

US weather service AccuWeather forecast rain in Hanoi City in the early morning and late afternoon on August 15, with sunshine around midday. Temperatures are expected to range from 28 to 31 degrees Celsius.
