A fisherman in the central province of Khanh Hoa was seriously injured after being shot by the crew of an unidentified vessel.
The victim was a crew member of fishing boat KH-90972TS. At around 2 am on November 27, while the boat was fishing near Phan Vinh island on the Spratly Archipelago, an unidentified vessel came near and opened fire, injuring one of its fishermen.
The Vietnamese trawlermen were unable to identify the vessel due to the darkness.
The victim was taken to Phan Vinh Island for first aid. Doctors said that had been injured in the lung and back. He has been transferred to the mainland for treatment.
