Kumquat is a popular Tet decoration in northern Vietnam, and Van Giang District in Hung Yen is known for growing large numbers of the tree.

Although Tet Festival is over a month away, many people have flocked to Van Giang to look for a nice bonsai to decorate their homes.

Local farmers have introduced a large number of kumquat trees which are grown and trimmed in different sizes and shapes.

Some farmers have displayed the bonsais in the shape of a vase, up to four metres high.

This year, farmer Nguyen Van Thach introduced a special tree in the shape of a World Cup trophy that stands 3.20 metres tall.

Thach also has 60 other trees with the vase shape and 20 in the shape of a heart.

"It took a lot of time and skill to grow and trim the trees into those shapes," the farmer said. "We can only select one from hundreds of trees to grow into special shapes."

The beautiful trees attracted lots of visitors. They are priced between VND25–30 million (USD1,042–1,250).
