Despite Hanoi’s loosened social distancing measures, many transport activities such as coaches, buses and taxis have not yet been allowed to resume services.

Dozens of sleeper coaches have been left at a parking lot in Thanh Tri District. Some have problems with their tyres because of not being used for a long time.

According to Pham Trong Cuong, deputy director of Sao Viet Transport Company which specialises in operating coaches on Hanoi-Lao Cai route, the suspension since July 24 has caused his firm many difficulties as they have had to pay parking fees and maintenance every month.

"Around 40 vehicles of our company are at the parking lot. Every three days, the coaches are turned on to avoid battery problems. We hope that the government will provide support policies for transport businesses,” Cuong noted.

The same situation was seen at a parking lot at Nam Trung Yen urban area in Cau Giay District. Many vehicles have been there for months.

A row of inter-provincial coaches is also being kept at a parking lot on Mac Thai To Street.
