Huge shark caught in Phu Yen Province

A huge shark believed to have attacked visitors at Binh Dinh Province was brought in by a fisherman in Phu Yen.

A huge shark believed to have attacked visitors at Qui Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province, was brought in by a fisherman in Song Cau District in the neighbouring province of Phu Yen.

The shark was 5 metres in length and weighed over 1 tonne, with a stomach width of 3.5 metres.

In the early morning of February 4, Trong, a fisherman, and his two sons from Xuan Hai Commune, Song Cau Town, Phu Yen caught the shark swimming near the seashore at Xuan Hai Commune, according to Trong.

This is the first time a shark showed up at Song Cau Sea and was caught. Right after hearing the news, many people came in hopes of buying it, but Trong wasn't ready to sell yet.

Representatives from the Nha Trang Oceanography Institute came and persuaded Trong to donate the shark to them for scientific research purposes.

Many people believe that this shark was the one that had been reported for attacking visitors in Qui Nhon Sea, Binh Dinh. The People’s Committee of Binh Dinh had previously announced that they would reward those who could catch the shark.
