Over 50,000 Vietnamese and foreign holidaymakers joined the traditional handicraft festival 2011 in Hue.
Festival attracted large crowds
The four-day event just wrapped up on May 3, leaving great impression on many of 100,000 who attended.
The event also featured an exhibit of bonsai trees and food stalls.
Many hotels in the city were overbooked by the flow of visitors, which was added to by the international fireworks competition in Danang.
Some tour companies reported increases of between 150% and 170% in the number of tourist from the year before.
This year the festival was rescheduled from June to coincide with Reunification Day and May Day, to great results, said Nguyen Dang Thanh, Vice Chairman of Hue People’s Committee.
The festival organisation board gave out rewards to 25 individuals and institutions for their contributions in cuisine, bonsai trees and other exhibits.
