Seven houses in Van An Ward suffered from subsidence and three others were at high risk of the same problem.
Local authorities began demolishing the houses on Monday.
Van An People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Thanh Ngan said it was urgent work to curb the erosion.
Nguyen Thi Thao whose house was demolished said she supported the work to help minimise the erosion.
The provincial people’s committee have proposed compensation for the affected households and the relocation of vulnerable people.
The demolition is scheduled to be completed within three days.
Erosion has occurred on the banks of the Cau River since mid-March.
