According to the city’s public transport management centre, the new vehicles are part of tender packages already awarded to operators to accelerate the shift towards environmentally friendly public transport.

VinBus Transport Services Company will operate electric bus route 127 linking An Thoi Dong and Ba Xan Intersection in Can Gio. This will be the first electric bus route serving the area.
In addition to route 127, VinBus will run eight more electric routes numbered 32, 38, 45, 53, 64, 93, 140 and 148, following its successful bid in October 2025.
On the same day, Futa Buslines will simultaneously launch 16 new electric routes: 01, 04, 08, 15, 22, 27, 43, 62, 65, 70, 74, 81, 110, 139, 152 and 170.
Route 170 will operate in the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City, connecting bus stations in zone A and zone B to serve students and staff.
The municipal department of construction said that after the merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria Vung Tau, the city’s bus network now comprises 179 routes, including 108 subsidised and 71 non-subsidised services, with 2,319 vehicles in operation.
Of these, 47 are electric bus routes operating 627 vehicles, while 18 routes use compressed natural gas with 449 vehicles. Environmentally friendly vehicles now account for 46.4 per cent of the city’s total bus fleet.
