In light of the recent severe cold spell, which has reportedly killed livestock in several provinces including Yen Bai, Bac Can and Lang Son, the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) sent the request to local authorities nationwide.
MARD Minister Cao Duc Phat urged authorities to, “provide information and instruction to farmers on how to consolidate their breeding facilities to ensure they are both warm and hygienic. It is also necessary to help farmers prepare and store feed for their animals.”
Recently temperatures have reached freezing levels in some mountainous regions of Vietnam.
Some localities in the northern mountainous regions, the Red River Delta and the northern parts of the central region are required to set aside funds to provide financial support to any families that have suffered losses in livestock because of the weather.
