
According to local residents, floodwaters began rising and entering homes around 1 am on June 12. In some places, the water level reached the waist of an average adult.

Many families rushed to move belongings to higher ground or evacuate to safer locations.

Tran Xuan Ty, a resident of the area, said he took precautions by elevating furniture and moving his wife and children to a relative’s home when he noticed the water rising.

Local authorities deployed boats to assist with moving people and valuables out of flooded areas and to help residents secure their homes.

Floodwaters from the Me Suot canal overflowed into the neighbourhood, carrying debris and raising concerns over potential disease outbreaks.
According to Lien Chieu District authorities, flooding occurred in nine residential locations, including Me Suot Street, residential cluster 37, and Hoa Khanh Nam Ward. The most heavily affected area was Alley 08 on Tran Xuan Le Street, where water reached a depth of 79 centimetres.
