Police in Son La Province have charged a man after allegedly transporting four bear paws and one bear gallbladder believed to have originated in Laos for illegal trade.

Investigators have charged Vi Van Nhoa, born in 1987 and a resident of Van Ho Commune, with the illegal trade of endangered, rare and precious wildlife.

Authorities have also placed Luong Thi Hue, born in 1982 and a resident of Chieng Son Commune, under a travel restriction while investigators examine her alleged involvement in the case.

Police previously intercepted Nhoa while he was transporting the wildlife products to Moc Son Ward, where they were allegedly intended for sale.

The investigation found that the seized items had been supplied by Hue and were believed to have been smuggled from Laos.

Police in Son La Province said the investigation was continuing as officers work to identify anyone else involved and pursue further legal action in accordance with Vietnamese law.
