On Hanoi Highway, through Dong Hoa Ward, floodwaters stretched for more than 300 metres along the motorcycle lane.

Traffic jams extended from the new Mien Dong Bus Station to the Song Hanh-Hanoi Highway intersection as vehicles struggled to move through the flooded area.

To avoid the long queues, many motorcyclists attempted to weave through traffic and cross submerged sections of the road. Several vehicles lost balance while travelling through deep water and strong currents.

Flooding during peak hours created chaotic traffic conditions across the area, with many vehicles breaking down after being submerged.

Traffic police were deployed to direct vehicles, regulate traffic flow and assist residents moving through congested sections.

Authorities also warned drivers to avoid severely flooded areas where possible.

In recent days, Ho Chi Minh City has experienced repeated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms following a prolonged period of intense heat.

Meteorologists said rainfall on May 25 generally ranged from 8-40mm, with some areas receiving more than 50mm.
