An old apartment building in HCM City
The group will review the implementation pace of apartment upgrading and rebuilding in districts 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 and Tan Binh District as well as the relocation of houses on or along canals in districts 4, 6, 7 and 8 and Binh Thanh District to report to the HCM City People’s Committee.
It will also work with districts over issues to the apartment renovation and rebuilding and propose solutions to speed up the work.
The HCM City Department of Construction reported that the city is home to 474 old apartment buildings with many built before 1975. Under a plan issued last year, the city would focus on upgrading 246 old apartment buildings, but difficulties accessing capital have slowed the work.
The city has so far dismantled 10 run-down apartment buildings. The city is also investing VND276 billion into upgrading 199 buildings built before 1975.
