City officials Monday inspected the construction site and witnessed the pouring of the first concrete batch for the main bridge pier foundation, marking the start of a key structural phase of the project.
According to contractors, bored piling work for the two main bridge towers on the An Khanh and Sai Gon ward sides has been completed.
The first concrete pour for the TC2 pier foundation involves around 5,674 cubic metres of concrete and requires strict control of temperature, materials and construction technology to ensure structural stability and durability.

The bridge, sponsored by Nutifood, has a total investment of nearly VND 1 trillion (USD 38 million) and will stretch about 720 metres across the river.
Its main span features a 187-metre cable-stayed steel arch inspired by the shape of a nipa palm leaf, with a bridge deck ranging from 6 to 11 metres wide.
Authorities said the project is designed not only as a transport link but also as a modern public space for walking, sightseeing and riverside activities.
Construction of approach bridges, embankments and technical infrastructure is also progressing, with some sections reaching about 90 per cent completion.
More than 250 engineers and workers are currently working around the clock at construction sites and fabrication workshops to keep the project on schedule.
The pedestrian bridge is expected to become a new architectural landmark for the city and help boost tourism and public recreational space along the Saigon River.
