
HCM City locks down apartment building after a new Covid-19 positive case is reported on December 28.
On December 28, HCM City authorities locked down Van Hanh apartment building in District 5. A 23-year-old resident in this building lived together with Patient 1440 in Myanmar and also illegally crossed the border to Vietnam. His samples were taken on December 27 at the quarantine centre in District 5. The positive result came back 17 hours later.
The man has been transferred to Cu Chi Field Hospital in stable condition.
Nguyen Tri Dung from HCM City CDC said as of 7 am on December 28, HCM City had 143 Covid-19 cases and all patients had been cured and discharged. The CDC is carrying out contact tracing tasks after patient 1440 was confirmed.
The Ministry of Health announced that up to 15 people that came in close contact with patient 1440 were tested and the initial results were all negative. 23 people related to the case are self-isolated at home. The authorities also tightened monitoring at the quarantine centres, hotels, hospitals.
HCM City authorities are reviewing the procedures for experts who come to Vietnam to work less than 14 days and start testing vulnerable groups at bus stations, hospitals and firms.
As of December 28, a total of 1,915 people are being quarantined and 44 people are home-isolated. HCM City CDC asked the public to stay calm and follow instructions and install the Bluezone app to see if there are any positive cases in the vicinity.
