HCM City has started gathering all homeless people to send them into either quarantine facilities or social welfare shelters after testing for Covid-19.

This followed the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam who is also head of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control. He urged all 312 wards and communes in HCM City to gather up all those people who are homeless and remain on the streets.

The homeless in HCM City gathered for Covid-19 testing 


Authorities of 21 local districts and Thu Duc City have begun gathering the homeless since Monday evening. Homeless people will be provided with quick Covid-19 testing. People who have the negative result will be sent to social welfare centres in Binh Thanh District and Thu Duc City and those testing positive for Covid-19 will go to hospitals.

In Vo Thi Sau Ward, one among 15 homeless people tested positive. Meanwhile, 10 others also tested positive for Covid-19 in districts 3,12 and 11 and Tan Binh District.

Initially, many homeless people tried to run away, but after being advised by authorities, they agreed to be tested for Covid-19.
