A representative of the Hanoi Civil Works Construction Investment Project Management Board said on May 12 that work on the Hoang Cau-Voi Phuc section of Ring Road 1 was progressing on schedule.
Contractors have pledged to complete the entire roadbed before September 2 and finish the two flyovers before December 31, the representative said.
The agency added that contractors had recently increased manpower and machinery at the site while organising round the clock construction to accelerate progress. Around 100 workers are currently deployed each day.

The Ring Road 1 project on the Hoang Cau-Voi Phuc section has a total investment of nearly VND 7.21 trillion (approximately USD 277 million). The route has been widely dubbed the “world’s costliest road” due to its exceptionally high land clearance costs and prolonged delays.
The road stretches more than 2.2 kilometres and is designed to be 50 metres wide. It begins at the intersection with the Cat Linh-La Thanh-Yen Lang route in Hoang Cau and ends at the Voi Phuc junction.
Despite the accelerated construction schedule, the overall project is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2026.

During an inspection of the project on April 18, Hanoi Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang described Ring Road 1 as a key transport artery for the capital.
He said every additional day of delay meant continued congestion, pollution and a declining quality of life for residents.
Thang instructed investors and contractors to submit written commitments on completion deadlines for each major component and to recover lost time by increasing shifts and extending working hours while ensuring safety and construction quality.
