According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, temperatures in parts of northern and central Vietnam reached between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius at 1 pm, with some locations recording even higher readings. Hanoi’s Lang station registered 39.7 degrees Celsius.

Reporters recorded outdoor temperatures in Hanoi surpassing 40 degrees Celsius, while surface temperatures on concrete roads in some areas exceeded 50 degrees Celsius at midday.

Despite the intense heat, construction workers, sanitation staff, scrap collectors, delivery drivers and traffic police continued working outdoors throughout the day.

Despite the scorching heat, the worker carefully inspected the large glass panels of a building on Cau Giay Street before continuing his work.

At around 11 am, pavement temperatures on Cau Giay Street reached 48 degrees Celsius as workers continued paving stones under direct sunlight.

Authorities warned that prolonged heat exposure, combined with low humidity, could increase risks of heatstroke, fires and power-related incidents.
