Hanoi authorities have submitted plans to build a hotel by Hoan Kiem Lake and local authorities are seeking the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's permission to start the project this September.
According to the municipal people's committee, the project will be located at 22 Le Thai To Street to replace the current Intimex Supermarket building which was built during the French colonial period.

The people's committee claim project design must ensure the capital city's planning and preservation requirements. To date, no more details about the projects have been released.
The Vietnam Architects Association said that a hotel would not suit the architectural space and surrounding landscape of Hoan Kiem Lake which is one of the major scenic spots in the capital city.
