In recent weeks, pavements around the Le Van Luong-Hoang Minh Giam-Nguyen Tuan junction in Thanh Xuan and Yen Hoa wards have been narrowed and refurbished. The intersection is widely regarded as one of Hanoi’s worst congestion hotspots during peak hours.

Traffic congestion on Le Van Luong Street
Construction teams are relocating traffic and street lights, adjusting road markings, installing new signage and moving trees within the road widening area. Drainage systems affected by the works are also being upgraded.
Work at the Le Van Luong-Hoang Minh Giam-Nguyen Tuan junction is being carried out at pace, with sections of pavement cut back by nearly two metres and heavy machinery operating continuously to widen the carriageway.
According to the Hanoi Department of Construction, in 2025 the city has carried out pavement trimming and road widening at six of 11 targeted junctions to ease congestion. Completed sites include Dinh Thon-Pham Hung, Vu Quynh-Me Tri, alley 171 Nguyen Xien, Hoa Binh7 alley-Minh Khai, Chu Huy Man-Nguyen Lam, and Co Linh-Thach Ban.
Construction is under way at the remaining five locations, including Minh Khai Street (Vinh Tuy Bridge underpass-Mac Thi Buoi Street), Huynh Thuc Khang-Nguyen Chi Thanh, Le Van Luong-Hoang Minh Giam-Nguyen Tuan, Nguy Nhu Kon Tum-Vu Trong Phung, and Vo Van Kiet Street-the entrance to Quang Minh Industrial Park.
