Hanoi launches bus operation centre

Hanoi Transport Corporation has opened a bus operation centre in order to help passengers find their routes and for better management.

Transerco's director Nguyen Hoang Trung said this was a part of the long-term plan to develop and improve service quality during 2017-2020 period. In the first nine months, they opened 22 more new routes with over 200 buses and 50% of their buses have wifi.

After many research and tests, they have completed the smart software to find bus routes and opened the centre. The modern centre will manage over 1,100 buses on 92 routes. The bus tracking system will give live data back to the centre along with the images from the cameras on the bus and the streets.

"Bus location, performance and the traffic will all be updated, analysed in order to help drivers react quickly with congestion, flooded areas and accidents," Trung said.

Talking about the bus finding software on timbus.vn website, Trung said it was highly interactive like Uber and Grab and was both in English and Vietnamese. Users can easily find their desired routes, bus stops, time and distance of that routes.

The centre will help improve the service quality. In the coming time, it will also help state agencies and the passengers understand more about the city bus operation.
