Talking to Dantri/Dtinews, a representative of the Buffet Chef Dzung Restaurant on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street said that the incident occurred during their lunch buffet on January 25.
"Some of our staff saw a group of seven customers who took a lot of seafood to their table," the restaurant said. "However, when they came to clear the table, they saw no crab or shrimp shells. Checking the security cameras, they saw the customers had put the seafood into a bag placed under their table. When these customers were about to leave, we asked to check their bag but they didn't agree, saying that the bag contained clothing."
It was not until the restaurant showed the group the clip from the security camera that they agreed to hand in the bag. Checking the bag, the restaurant found crabs, shrimp, sashimi, and dumplings, which together weighed over 10 kilos.
The restaurant then asked these customers to pay for the food that they had taken but the group did not agree. They called the police to help solve the issue.

A representative from Lang Ha Ward Police Department confirmed with Dantri on January 26 that they had dealt with the case at the Buffet Chef Dzung Restaurant a day earlier.
"Following our investigation, the customers were fined based on the restaurant's regulation," the police said.
The restaurant's representative said that they sometimes give warnings to customers for taking food out but this time the incident was too excessive to ignore. They, however, refused to reveal the size of the fine.
The restaurant provides seafood buffets for lunch at VND409,000 per person.
