According to the initial information, the incident happened this morning, September 10, when the boy was studying online at home. While his dad went out, he used a scissor to poke at an electrical outlet, causing an electric shock. As a result, he died. At that time, only his younger sister was at home.

According to a representative from Thai Thinh Primary School, teachers often make the roll at the beginning of every online lesson. However, this morning, due to the weak internet connection, teachers failed to do this for some students, including the boy.

Pham Xuan Tien, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that the department is verifying the case.

According to Tien, it remained necessary for parents to monitor their children’s studying at home, particularly for primary pupils.

Students in Hanoi and many other localities in Vietnam have been studying online at home due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.
