The design plan for Tu Lien Bridge

The bridge, set to be completed between 2025 and 2027, is expected to enhance connectivity over the Red River and support the capital’s urban expansion.

The Tu Lien Bridge and its connecting roads will span Tay Ho District, Long Bien District, and Dong Anh District, covering approximately 62.71 hectares. The route will start at Nghi Tam Road and extend to Truong Sa Road, forming a crucial link between key areas of the city.

The Hanoi Transport Construction Investment Project Management Board has been assigned as the main investor for the project, which will stretch about 5.15 km in total length.

City officials anticipate that once completed, the bridge will ease congestion on existing routes, improve traffic flow, and stimulate urbanization in the surrounding districts. It is also expected to relieve pressure on major bridges such as Chuong Duong, Long Bien, Nhat Tan, Thang Long, and Vinh Tuy, which currently bear heavy traffic loads.

Hanoi currently has nine bridges spanning the Red River, including Long Bien, Thang Long, Chuong Duong, Thanh Tri, Vinh Thinh, Nhat Tan, Van Lang, and Vinh Tuy.

According to the Capital Transport Master Plan to 2030, with a vision to 2050, the city plans to construct a total of 18 bridges across the river to strengthen regional connectivity and accommodate the growing demand for transport infrastructure.
