To achieve this target, municipal authorities have asked relevant agencies and departments to mobilise all available resources in support of the poor and social policy beneficiaries, especially those living in mountainous and riverbank areas.
They have launched a programme to build new rural areas and upgrade infrastructure in ethnic minority people-inhabited areas.
In addition, each poor family will be offered a preferential loan, worth VND20-30 million, to develop their household economy.
According to the Hanoi Department for Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Hanoi still has more than 59,360 poor households (over 189,400 people), accounting for 3.6 percent of the city’s total population. More than 51,900 poor households are living in rural areas.
