Nguyen Dinh Minh, chairman of the Pu Nhi Commune People’s Committee, said the storm, accompanied by strong winds, struck Pu Nhi A and Pu Nhi B villages at around 5 pm.

Several homes were damaged, with some roofs and awnings torn off, while hailstones were roughly the size of a little finger, local authorities said.
Authorities are assessing losses.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said northern Vietnam would continue to see rain and scattered thunderstorms through Tuesday morning, with rainfall of 20-40 mm and isolated areas receiving more than 100 mm.
The agency warned of possible whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong winds during thunderstorms, with heavy localised rain raising the risk of flash floods, landslides and flooding in low-lying areas.
Authorities urged residents to monitor weather updates and avoid travelling through flood-prone areas, steep slopes and small streams during heavy rain.
