Small hail was reported in several suburban areas of Hanoi at about 2 am, lasting a few minutes before turning into heavy rain, residents said. Similar conditions were recorded in parts of Phu Tho Province, while earlier storms in Cao Bang Province on March 31 caused minor damage.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned of continued thunderstorms across the north, accompanied by lightning, strong winds and possible hail, as cold air compresses a low-pressure trough.
The latest episode marks the second bout of severe convective weather in recent days, after similar storms on March 29-30 caused damage in several localities.
According to meteorologists, the conditions stem from a clash between weak cold air and rising daytime heat, creating atmospheric instability. While not unusual, the storms can develop rapidly and pose risks including roof damage, falling trees and disruption.
Authorities urged residents to monitor weather updates, limit outdoor activities during storms and secure property to minimise potential losses.
