According to the Environment and Natural Resources Management Department under the Ha Tinh Economic Zone Management Board, several agencies had arrived at the site to take sewage samples at Formosa on April 11 for testing and the results would be announced soon.

The department said that Formosa has been sending reports on their sewage output twice a year based on analysis and research from their partners. All the recent reports said that their sewage system offered any problems.

Besides Formosa, environmental officials are also taking sewage samples from the Vung Ang 1 Thermo-power Plant for investigation.

Dozens of fish farmers around the Formosa Industrial Zone and Vung Ang 1 Thermo-power Plant have complained about their caged fish dying en-mass over the past few days.

While the cause has not yet been found, they blamed the nearly Formosa Industrial Zone for discharging sewage into the sea.
