The twin boys are conjoined from chest to belly.
The 20 year-old mother gave birth to the twins on July 13 at Vi Xuyen District General Hospital by caesarean section. The twin boys weigh 4.9 kilos and are conjoined from chest to belly.
According to doctor Nguyen Ngoc Chung, vice director of Vi Xuyen District General Hospital, first X-ray images showed that the twins have separate hearts, lungs and kidneys.
"We've sent them to Vietnam-Germany Hospital in Hanoi for better care and further examinations to see how to separate them," Chung said.
"The mother, who is from a poor family of the Dao ethnic minority group, could not afford the treatment for the twins so we've called for donations from the hospital staff and local people to help them."
