Under the decision, Hong Ngoc 12 banh mi shop was also ordered to pay more than VND 175 million to cover food poisoning response costs and medical expenses for affected customers.
The business was found to have produced and sold food that caused poisoning in more than five people, an offence falling short of criminal prosecution under Vietnamese law.

Between Feb 24 and March 7, 86 people reported symptoms of food poisoning after eating meat-filled banh mi bought from the bakery. No deaths were reported.
The facility has been suspended from all food production and sales activities for four months.
It was not the first such incident involving the bakery. In 2024, the same business was fined after 149 people were hospitalised in a separate food poisoning outbreak linked to its banh mi.
Health authorities first received reports of suspected food poisoning on Feb. 24, when three people were hospitalised with symptoms after eating sandwiches from the shop.
By March 7, 83 victims had been hospitalised and three others treated as outpatients. All were later discharged.
