According to initial reports, the man, a company director in the steel and scaffolding sector at Chau Duc Industrial Park, had travelled to the lake earlier in the day with a Vietnamese friend to go paddleboarding.
During the activity, his companion realised he had disappeared and alerted local authorities. Police in Kim Long Commune and the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Police Division deployed personnel and equipment to the scene but had not located him by late evening.
The man’s paddleboard was later recovered and brought ashore.
