Heavy frost was recorded in Buoc Mu Hamlet in Na Ngoi Commune, leaving the border landscape hazy and wintry. Frost was also reported on mountain peaks and forest canopies in nearby high-altitude areas, including Muong Long and Nam Can communes.

A border guard officer in Na Ngoi said temperatures plunged before dawn, hovering between minus 4 and minus 5 degrees Celsius, with icy winds and frozen vegetation making travel difficult.
Border forces warned residents to avoid early-morning trips to fields due to slippery conditions and urged farmers to keep livestock warm, particularly free-grazing cattle.

Forecasters said the strengthening cold air mass will continue to affect border areas of Nghe An, with night-time temperatures expected to remain very low, raising the risk of prolonged frost and hoarfrost in the coming days.
Local authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies to step up cold-weather advisories, distribute warm clothing to students and guide residents on reinforcing animal shelters to minimise losses.
