The incident occurred at around 3am when a landslide in Phuoc Dong Commune buried seven houses.
According to Khanh Hoa Provincial Chairman Le Duc Vinh, four people including two children have been found dead in the debris.
A local man, Tran Xuan Duy, said that the landslide happened early in the morning when many people were still inside their houses and were not able to escape.
"Ï heard screams everywhere after a loud explosion and soil and stones started dumping on our houses," Duy said. "Many people were half buried in the rocks and earth."
Director of Khanh Hoa Province's Department of Fire Fighting, Nguyen Duc Quynh told Dantri/DTiNews that seven people were injured in the landslide which saw a 10 to 15-metre high landslide fall onto the small residential area.
