The exchange programme between former Vietnamese students and their Russian teachers titled ‘Teachers and students on reunion day’ was held at the My Dinh National Convention Centre on January 17.
Nearly 4,000 delegates among 52,000 former Vietnamese students who had studied in the Soviet Union attended the programme to meet their Russian teachers. The atmosphere was filled with Vietnamese – Russian culture; Russian soul and characters; loyal sentiments between Vietnam and Russia; smiles, tears, flowers and so on.
Old stories of teachers and students were broadcast live on television on the reunion day. VTV reporters during the half year have carried out reportages about schools where Vietnamese students had attended. The meetings between former teachers and students moved audience to tears, especially who had studied in Russia.
President Ho Chi Minh sent the first 300 Vietnamese pupils and students to the Soviet Union to study in October 1945. 100 of them are university students, 100 are college students and other 100 are secondary pupils. 100 pupils attended the Internat school and received great care from teacher Ina. Ms Chi Linh, now living in Ho Chi Minh City recalled the time when she was only an 11-year-old pupil: “Ina is a very tactful and deep teacher, she knows who are martyr’s children and pay great attention to them. When we become students, she adopts one of us. When we know about this, we all consider her as our adoptive mother.” 85-year-old Ina still remembers her students and her love for them remains unchanged although 55 years have gone by.
The exchange showed the close relationship between Russian teachers and Vietnamese students, also a solid foundation to keep and develop friendly and co-operative relations between Vietnamese people and the people of former Soviet Union.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan on behalf of Vietnamese students showed the deep gratitude to Russian teachers. Many people who were once students in Russia are now making great contributions to the nation. The Deputy PM affirmed to continue promoting the friendly relations between two nations and strengthening the educational co-operation between Vietnam and Russia and the former Xoviet Union’s nations.
