This problem by households from To Da 1 Village, Thuy Tan Commune, Huong Thuy Town was mentioned at a meeting of the provincial People’s Committee on December 7.

The roof of Nguyen's family damaged by flights from and to Phu Bai International Airport
A local resident Huynh Thi Nguyen said that one day on early November, right after an airplane flied over her house, she heard big sound from the roof. When she rushed to the yard, she saw dozens of tiles fall down.
“Luckily, her niece who was standing nearby was safe. We are really worried and hope that local authorities have timely measures to prevent possible dangers,” she added.
Three years ago, Nguyen’s neighbour faced the same incident when an airplane from Phu Bai International Airport caused hundreds of tiles from her roof to fall on the yard. After that, the family called for local authorities for support, but they received nothing. They then had to spent their own money for repairing the roof. To date, many among the the broken tiles were still kept as evidence.

A plane flies very close to houses near Phu Bai International Airport
Nguyen Tan Hop, chairman of Thuy Tan Commune, admitted that the damaged roofs happen every year in the locality. Besides Nguyen’s house, two others were also affected early November this year. Since 2013, each year, the commune has seen several households affected by the flights, Hop noted.
According to Hop, bad weather can affect flights’ direction, which may lead to strong wind to damage the roofs.
The commune has reported the problem to Huong Thuy Town’s localities to ask the management board of Phu Bai International Airport for help.
