At 8.30 am, a fishing boat called for help from latitude 13.54N, longitude 114.09E, about 149 nautical miles off the Spratly Islands after began taking on water.

After receiving the signal, the Vietnam Coast Information System notified other agencies to carry out the rescue. It also broadcasted the news and asked nearby vessels for help.

At 10 am, the British Innovator, a British cargo ship on the way to Taiwan received the request for assistance and rescued the fishermen. It is expected that the fishermen will arrive at Da Nang Port at 8 pm on January 23.
