Festival introduces British food and drink to Vietnamese people

A cooking contest titled ‘The Great Bake-off’ for amateur bakers opened at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi as an event to celebrate the British Food and Drink Festival in Vietnam.

UK Ambassador to Vietnam Giles Lever attended the event and joined other amateur bakers under the judge of Michelin star chef Gary Rhodes.

Visiting Vietnam as the British Food Ambassador on the occasion, Gary Rhodes will be the guest on Vietnam Television’s ‘Happy Lunch’ programme on March 20.

The same day, he will be at AEON Mall, Long Bien district in Hanoi for a cooking demonstration where there will be the opportunity to try British products.

The highlight of the festival will be on March 17 in Ho Chi Minh City where guests will be invited to a dinner cooked by Gary Rhodes and Vietnamese master chef Pham Tuan Hai.

The festival is hosted by the British Embassy and UK Trade and Investment to introduce Vietnamese businesses and consumers to the quality, heritage and creativity that make British food some of the best in the world today.
