Lieutenant Colonel Le Xuan Dieu, chief of police in Tien Dien Commune, Ha Tinh Province, said residents discovered the man's body washed ashore at Xuan Thanh Beach at around 5.30 pm on June 22.
The victim, who was approximately 1.6 metres tall, was wearing black shorts and a life jacket when his body was found.
Authorities also located a car belonging to the victim parked near the beach.
Following an investigation, officials identified the deceased as a 54-year-old man from Nghe An Province.

After contacting the family, authorities learned that the man had driven his 13-year-old son to the beach for a swim on the afternoon of June 22.
Local authorities and rescue forces subsequently deployed fishing vessels and rescue boats to search offshore, while additional teams were assigned to comb the coastline in an effort to locate the missing boy.
As of the morning of June 23, the child's whereabouts remained unknown and search operations were continuing.
