Family rescued after house fire in Ho Chi Minh City

Four members of a family, including a young girl, were rescued from a house fire in Ho Chi Minh City early on February 8, with initial findings pointing to an electrical short circuit.

Ho Chi Minh City police said they were investigating the cause of the blaze, which broke out at about 2.30 am at a combined home and business property on Street 36 in Tan Hung Ward.

Fire prevention, fighting and rescue officers were dispatched with multiple vehicles and dozens of personnel, who arrived quickly and implemented a firefighting plan.

Authorities said the house covers 210 sq metres, with about 70 sq metres affected by the fire. Initial assessments indicated the blaze started from an electrical short circuit in a power socket, which ignited a motorbike, a bicycle and other household items.

Following the incident, fire and rescue police urged residents living in combined residential and business properties not to store goods in front of their homes or on upper floors, warning that clutter can increase fire risks and block escape routes.
