The television project on ethnic languages in 2011-2015 aims to raise public awareness of Party guidelines and State policies on ethnic issues. It will improve people's knowledge, as well as promoting economic development and maintaining the cultural identity of ethnic minority groups.
VTV plans to coordinate with 42 local television stations nationwide in training staff and preparing equipment for making the programme.
Recently, many ethnic minority groups in most mountainous regions have gained access to television service transmitted via satellite, which will allow the programme to reach a potentially large audience.
